Title: Introduction to Taiwan’s Asia LEDS Partnership Promotion Group Ch

Content: The Ministry of Economic Affairs has set up an Asia Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) 
Partnership Promotion Group to promote Taiwan’s active participation in the Partnership as well as 
Taiwan’s related industry and technical exchanges and cooperation with other members of the 
Partnership. 

1. The Group’s mission includes the following:
(1) Promoting participation in Asia LEDS Partnership-related work.
(2) Reviewing and participating in Asia LEDS Partnership- related projects.
(3) Coordinating relevant agencies’ and organizations’ participation in Asia LEDS 
Partnership-related activities and projects.
(4) Providing consultations on other related topics.

2. The Group’s convener is the Minister of Economic Affairs, and its deputy convener is the 
Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, MOEA. There are twelve 
members, including the convener and deputy convener. The other members are the heads of the 
Environmental Protection Administration, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry 
of Finance, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Council of Agriculture, Financial 
Supervisory Commission, Bureau of Energy (MOEA), Industrial Development Bureau (MOEA), 
and Office of Energy and Carbon Reduction (Executive Yuan).

3. Subcommittee meetings are held every three to six months, and extraordinary meetings are 
convened when necessary. If the convener is unable to attend a meeting, the deputy convener stands 
in. Scholars, industry representatives and other experts may be invited to participate in meetings 
when needed.

4. The Group’s administrative and coordination work is handled by the Department of International 
Cooperation, MOEA, which may convene consultation meetings on related matters when necessary.

5. There is no pay for serving as a member of the Group.

6. The Group’s expenses are covered by the relevant budget of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
