Title: Directions Governing Type Approval of Special Commodities or Commodities of Small Quantities Ch

Content:

1. These Directions are established to implement type approval of Special Commodities or

Commodities of Small Quantities.

 

2. The Special Commodities or Commodities of Small Quantities mentioned in these Directions

shall mean the commodities that domestically produced or imported are customized and not

mass-produced, or are not used in ordinary situations or sites, or the volume of the commodities

with the same type does not exceed any of the following quantities every year.

(1) Parts and accessories for liquid petroleum automobile combustion systems: 8

(2) Tires: 5

(3) Light alloy wheels: 5

(4) Fire doors of buildings: 3

(5) Information technology products: 5

(6) Seat belt: 9

(7) Toys: 5

(8) Protective helmets for motorcyclists and passengers of motorcycles; sports helmets used for

riding bicycles, skates, skateboards, inline skates, etc.; helmets used for hardball, kitty ball or

softball; or protective helmets used by catchers in baseball or softball: 4

(9) Disposable and simple lighters: 20

(10) Stationery commodities: 10

(11) Children’s bicycles: 2

(12) Other commodities: 5

 

 

3. The application form for Special Commodities or Commodities of Small Quantities, and the

relevant documents, as set out in the following items, shall be submitted by the applicant to the

Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (hereinafter referred to as the BSMI).

(1) Commodity catalogs;

(2) User manual;

(3) Application form referred to information of testing laboratory.

 

4. When the BSMI reviews the applications for Special Commodities or Commodities of Small

Quantities, the BSMI may inquire the opinions of the relevant associations or of the relevant

associations’ fore-reviewing. A commodity can be granted that it can be applicable to the scope of

Special Commodities or Commodities of Small Quantities if the above-mentioned documents

submitted by the applicant have been reviewed and approved by review team of BSMI.

 

5. The relevant technical documents, as set out in the following items, must be submitted by the

applicant to the BSMI for application for type approval of Special Commodities or Commodities of

Small Quantities,

(1) Commodity catalogs;

(2) 4x6 inches color pictures for commodity appearance;

(3) User manual (such as descriptions of safety devices, installations, operations and maintenance.);

 

6. The term of validity of the type approval certificate of Special Commodities or Commodities of

Small Quantities shall be determined by the BSMI in accordance with Directions for type approval

of the relevant commodities respectively.

 

7. Once a commodity has been granted type approval of Special Commodities or Commodities of

Small Quantities, the applicant may apply for batch inspection of the commodity according to batch

examination.
